Recently engaged? Congratulations! After getting engaged you’ve probably worked on creating your wedding Pinterest board and started searching online for bridal boutiques in your area. While researching wedding dresses, you’ve likely come across the term "Trunk Show".
What is a Trunk Show?
Each season a wedding gown designer will create 30+ styles for their collections. Bridal boutiques will then pick 6-10 of those styles to bring into their stores as samples for brides to try on. A trunk show is when the wedding gown designer will loan the entire wedding dress collection for that particular season to a bridal store for a limited amount of time. That means a broader range of styles, from the newest season are available to try on for a short time!
So, how do you know if a trunk show is right for you? We’ve compiled a few tips on wedding dress shopping during a trunk show to help you decide if booking your bridal appointment during a trunk show is right for you.
Should I Shop for My Wedding Dress During a Trunk Show?
1. Do your Research
The first thing to keep in mind when deciding whether or not to shop for your wedding dress during a designer trunk show, is whether or not you like the style or vibe of the designer being presented! You'll want to do a bit of research on the designer's previous styles and their price point to make sure their offerings fit with your overall wedding vision. Note that the store's entire inventory will still be available for you to try on at a trunk show appointment, so you won't be limited to just the designer being showcased.
2. Broader Range of Styles to Try On
Here at Charlotte's, we have carefully curated our collection of wedding gowns from our various wedding dress designers to have sampled in store for our brides to try on. We don't have the space to carry every single dress that a designer creates, so Trunk Shows are such an exciting time for us! The wedding dresses sent during a Trunk Show are from the newest collections, usually hot off the runway which means they are just as new to us as they are to you. As a bride, you are getting the first look at these exclusive wedding gowns and you have the chance to say yes to a rare dress for your big day!!
3. Book an Appointment ASAP
Spots fill up quickly during trunk shows! Once you have decided that shopping during a trunk show is for you, book your appointment ASAP. Typically, trunk show dresses are only in store for a couple of days so brides will book their appointments in advance to make sure they don't miss out! The Charlotte's Experience is one to remember, and we love the chance to make it even more special during a Trunk Show event.
4. Bring the Right People
Make sure you bring the important guests to this appointment! This is a big decision and it's important to have all the people there who you want to share this memory with. Since trunk show gowns are only here for a short time, you'll want to make sure everyone is there who needs to be for supporting you with your wedding dress decision.
5. Be Ready to Say Yes with Designer Pricing Incentives
One of the very best parts of Trunk Shows are the discounts! Trunk Show events are one of the few times where our wedding dress designers allow us to offer discounts, so you'll want to be ready to buy when you shop during a Trunk Show! Make sure you have taken time to review our pricing guidelines and establish your wedding dress budget so that you can confidently say yes to your dress at a Trunk Show.
